Additional learning support
At our school, we make sure every student is supported and ready to learn. We provide adjustments and assistance for students with disability or additional learning needs so they can fully participate in all aspects of school life. A formal diagnosis is not required for your child to receive support, and help can be provided at any stage of their schooling.
Support that fits your child's needs
Some students benefit from extra support to help them feel confident and achieve their best at school. We work in partnership with families to create individualised plans and adjustments that meet each child’s unique needs.
Additional learning support may include:
-
Collaboration between teachers, support staff, families, and students
-
Specialist assistance for students learning English as an additional language or dialect (EAL/D)
-
Tailored programs to extend and challenge high potential and gifted students
-
Small group tutoring focused on targeted literacy and numeracy goals
-
Regular check-ins to review and refine support strategies
Classroom adjustments may involve:
- Accessible learning environments
- Use of assistive technologies
- Specialised instructional resources
- Modified lessons with simplified content, additional guidance, or a different learning focus
Assessment adjustments may include:
- Extra time to complete tasks
- Simplified instructions or language
- Rest breaks during assessments
- Alternative formats (for example, oral presentations instead of written tasks)
We identify when a student may need extra help by:
- Monitoring changes in learning progress, behaviour, or engagement
- Reviewing assessment data and classroom performance
- Listening to concerns or requests for support from parents and carers.
Adjustments are planned with parents and carers. They are reviewed regularly and changed when needed. If you think your child may need extra help, contact us.
